Yuki Yano has an extensive background in classic ballet, modern dance and performing art. After graduating art school, she has been exposing her works in personal and group exhibitions. She formed artist group ‘Mankincho’ which specializing in combined arts performances fusing music and dance. On the other hand, she attempts to develop the original performing techniques involved in theatrical art, composition, song and dance. Yuki Yano selected theremin ss her instrument of destiny. Theremin was not just another instrument to her. Yuki states, ‘Theremin allows me to access to the multidimensional spaces and it fuses my consciousness. Theremins help the visualization of the music and express the consciousness on imaginal canvas while I am dancing to music. Theremin binds every experience I had in the past and take my music to another level.’ |
Back in 1920s, one of the first electronic instruments known as Theremins was invented by French Russian scientist ‘Leon Theremin’. In later years, Dr. Robert A. Moog, well known as the inventor of the Minimoog, popularized theremin in the minds of musicians. It played without touching, said to be, theremin is one of most successful fretless instrument. It reflects players’ mood and sounds very much like human voice. In the other words, this electronic instrument has a taste of unplugged instrument. Theremin was adopted by world-famous musicians Todd Rundgren and Brian Wilson and Japanese musician Keigo Oyamada and Hiroshi Takano. |
